Therapeutic Riding


Electrotherapy

The term refers to the use of electrotherapy electric currents of different frequencies to treat diseases. There are different types of electrotherapy, such as, eg, galvanizing, iontophérèse, hydro bath therapy, electrical stimulation, percutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (NPHS) or high-frequency therapy. At the low frequency therapy, using currents from 0-1kHz, at the mid-frequency therapy, using currents of 1-100kHz and therapy, high frequency currents over 300kHz. The electrical currents are produced by special equipment and transmitted to the body via electrodes. In the body, the current acts as an inhibitor of pain and stimulating blood flow. Moreover, in the form of therapy, treatment may have a relaxing effect or a stimulating effect on muscles.

Therapeutic Riding

The collective term "therapy with the horse" includes, Switzerland, three forms of therapy equestrian therapeutic riding, horseback riding and hippotherapy adapted. The goal of therapeutic riding is to stimulate the development of people with different disabilities or disorders. In this case, is not the rider become more important. The horse is rather seen as a tool that, by his body, his behavior and movements, offers many opportunities for therapeutic work. Horseback riding is an appropriate form of treatment, developed for the exercise of sick people. As for therapeutic riding, the relationship with the horse is more important that learning horseback riding. Hippotherapy is a particular variant of riding appropriate. In this treatment, pure physiotherapy, the patient is completely passive and suffers the movement of horses. The rhythmic step of the animal causes a relaxation of the muscular system. For all therapies with a horse, horses are employed specially trained for this purpose.
