Polycystic Ovary Syndrome



Polycystic ovary syndrome is relatively common, affecting 5-10% of women. While some have features (hirsutism, acne ...), others are free. "This situation is also characterized by hyperinsulinemia (resistance to the effects of insulin), which may promote cardiovascular disease, the course obésité2 or diabetes."

Predisposition to diabetes

A study 3 conducted in 2001 on more than 100 000 women had identified an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes in case of graduate to 40 days or very irregular.

This risk is multiplied by 2.08 in average and varies according to weight: risk multiplied by 3.86 due to obesity associated, 1.74 in case of overweight and 1.67 for normal weight women.
